The Imperial College Alumni Association of Singapore (ICAAS) is the official association representing all graduates from Imperial College London who are based in Singapore. We connect alumni from all batches and cohorts, and serve as a conduit between our alumni members and college.

ICAAS x ICBS Pickleball

What a smashing start to the weekend!

The first-ever ICAAS x ICBS Pickleball Gathering took place in the morning of 24th May at Dempsey Court, and the energy on and off the court was incredible!

It was more than just a friendly game — it was a great opportunity to connect, rally together, and build stronger ties between our alumni networks. Whether you were serving aces or cheering from the sidelines, the enthusiasm was infectious.

Big thanks to everyone who showed up with great spirits and sportsmanship. We’re already looking forward to the next one!



Imperial Global Singapore’s One Year Anniversary

Last week, we had the pleasure of celebrating Imperial Global Singapore’s One Year Anniversary—a milestone that marks an exciting chapter in global research collaboration.

Prof. Azra Ghani and Prof. Anil Bharath shared a compelling reflection on IGS’s journey over the past year and their inspiring vision for the future. The event also showcased the incredible work of project directors and researchers through engaging talks, exhibitions, and live demonstrations of cutting-edge research findings.

Congratulations to the team on this remarkable achievement! We look forward to deepening our collaboration and supporting many more years of impact and innovation ahead.

Roundtable Lunch with Professor Peter Todd

It was a pleasure for ICAAS to attend a roundtable lunch hosted by Professor Peter Todd, Dean of Imperial Business School, where we had the opportunity to hear the latest updates from the school and explore ways to further strengthen our local alumni network.

Beyond networking, we also had engaging discussions on deep tech topics—including AI, sustainability, cybersecurity, and healthcare—and how we can drive their commercialization to create meaningful impact for society.

We look forward to welcoming Professor Peter Todd back to Singapore soon!

ICAASC, ICAAM and ICAAS held our first ever joint panel event on Zoom on 5th September 2024! Our distinguished speakers—Hanyan Goh, Johan Nasir, and Wei Qiu—shared their invaluable insights on how smart technologies are transforming cities in Singapore, Malaysia, and South China into more livable and sustainable environments. The conversation was vibrant and thought-provoking, covering key issues such as nation security, climate change, and ageing population! We extend our deepest thanks to all the attendees, as well as to the incredible Alumni Engagement Officers at Imperial College’s Alumni Relations Office for their unwavering support in making this event possible. ICAAS AGM 2024 and guest talk by Mr. Laurence Liew

ICAAS held our 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 15th August 2024. We were honored to have Mr. Laurence Liew, Author of AI-First Nation, as our guest speaker for the evening. His presentation titled “Demystifying AI: Capabilities, Risks, and Dangers” provided invaluable insights and sparked lively discussions among our members. Mr. Liew’s expertise in AI helped illuminate both the potential benefits and the ethical considerations crucial for our understanding of this rapidly evolving field. The event was well-attended, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to all members who joined us. We concluded the evening by reviewing the past year’s activities and welcoming our incoming ICAAS EXCO for the 2024/25 term. The 47th ICAAS Exco is excited about the upcoming term and look forward to more enriching events and discussions. Stay tuned for our events this year!

Getting Real About Net Zero – talk by Professor Niall Mac Dowell (Future Energy Systems)

We had the pleasure of Professor Niall Mac Dowell deliver a lecture to ICAAS members on Getting real about “net zero” on the 2nd of November 2023 at the National Library. Professor Neall is a Professor in Energy Systems Engineering at Imperial College London. His research focusses on understanding the transition to a low carbon economy.

Professor Neall is a Professor in Energy Systems Engineering at Imperial College London. His research focusses on understanding the transition to a low carbon economy.

Professor Niall discussed emissions reduction policies and technology required to achieve net zero emissions and the struggle between generating energy to power growth and keeping it sustainable. Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) were also explored as an integral means to aid transition to a low carbon economy. We thank Professor Niall for sharing his insights.

40th Anniversary of ICSS

Imperial College Singapore Society (ICSS) recently celebrated their 40th anniversary. A dinner was held at Hort Park to mark the celebration. The dinner was attended by both current students and alumni. Past presidents of ICSS including Bae Yam Keng, Soh Kinn Roo, Jayson Goh and Ling Ming Koon also attended the event.

ICAAS AGM 2023 and Guest Talk by Mr Lim Tuang Liang

ICAAS held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2023 on 23rd August 2023. During which we reviewed the list of events in 2023 and elected our incoming ICAAS EXCO for 2023/24!Following which, we were privileged to have Mr Lim Tuang Liang presently the Government Chief Sustainability Officer (GCSO) and Deputy Secretary (Special Duties) in the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) engage our audience on the topic of sustainability. He shared with us on the progress of the Singapore Green Plan 2023, and had a candid exchange with members on the key opportunities and challenges Singapore is facing on this topic.
